Giovanni Spano and Misunderstood became the latest two acts to get the boot from The X Factor as the double eliminations continued.

Absent judge Robbie Williams lost his third act after the duo finished bottom of the public vote without the option to sing for their place in the competition.

And his wife Ayda Field was forced to part with another act, Gio, after her fellow judges opted to save teen stars Acacia and Aaliyah.

Speaking about his exit, the rock performer said that the experience had been “a lot of fun” before using his final words to thank the “amazing” X Factor team, from the judges to the behind-the-scenes crew.

Field paid tribute to her act, with his elimination leaving her just one star left in the competition, as “one of the most incredible people” and admitted she was “shocked” to see him go.

Louis Tomlinson had based his sing-off decision on the act he felt would “have a life outside” the competition while Simon Cowell praised Spano for his “great vocal” and confessed he had just started to like him.

Elsewhere during the show, Olly Murs was back on stage three years after his presenting gaffe as he performed Moves from his latest album You Know I Know.

Murs hit headlines in 2015 after he appeared to announce contestant Monica Michael’s elimination before the deadlock result had been revealed while presenting the show live alongside Caroline Flack.

Realising he had made an announcement too early he apologised saying: “I’m sorry guys, I’ve made a mistake.”

Murs was ridiculed for his error with many accusing the show of being a “fix”. He later revealed he started suffering from panic attacks after the mistake, something he later sought therapy for.

The X Factor continues Saturday November 17 at 8.10pm on ITV.
