Viewers have called for Matt LeBlanc to host the new series of Top Gear without Chris Evans.

Following Sunday night’s finale, many viewers took to Twitter to give their final verdict on the series, which has received mixed reviews.

While most fans seemed to have liked elements of the revamped show, some thought that it would work better with Evans in a less prominent role.

“@BBC_TopGear I've found a way to enjoy Top Gear! When Chris Evans is on for his segment, I turn the channel over! Brilliant! #TopGear2016,” one person wrote.

“Love Chris Evans, but #TopGear should be presented by just Matt LeBlanc, Rory Reid, Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz," someone else posted.

Some viewers seemed more worried about the fact that Evans had been wearing the same outfit on every episode.

“My main query with this years @BBC_TopGear is why the hell Chris Evans has been wearing that same grim af yellow tshirt and jumper each week,” someone wrote on Twitter.

Another viewer added: “Exact same yellow t-shirt for Evans tonight on #TopGear - the man is a multi-millionaire and Le Blanc is in new clothes each episode.”

Despite the mixed reaction to Evans’ presenting, US actor LeBlanc seems to have become a fan favourite.

One twitter post read: “Really enjoyed @harrismonkey and @MrRoryReid and Matt le blanc on top gear this series. Evans, Sabine and Eddie not so much. #TopGear.”

“I enjoyed the series of #TopGear2016 Matt Leblanc made the show. Eddie Jordan makes me cringe,” someone else wrote.

According to reports, the BBC motoring show could be set for a revamp for the next series as new Entertainment Controller Kate Phillips joins the broadcaster in September.
