Singin' in the Rain is making a splash

5 April 2012

Singin' in the Rain is making a splash in the West End. And it is little wonder. Jonathan Church's stage adaptation of the smash hit film is a hoot.

It's a familiar plot - the talkies are about to change the face of Hollywood and it's down to Don Lockwood, his trusty best friend and the woman he loves to save one of its biggest studios.

Adam Cooper, Daniel Crossley and Scarlett Strallen do a grand job stepping into the mackintosh's that once belonged to Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds. And Katherine Kingsley is hilarious as blonde bombshell Linda Lamont.

The spirit of the roaring '20s is captured with elegant costume, sharp choreography and a sophisticated set. A word of warning though - those sitting in the first few rows will get soaked.

Fabulous feel-good fun.
