The late Sir Terry Wogan is to be honoured with a special concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday November 1.

Billed as ‘BBC Children in Need Rocks for Terry’, the charity show will feature the likes of Take That, Ellie Goulding, Gregory Porter and Olly Murs performing a cut of Sir Terry’s favourite songs.

Other acts on the line-up include Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Rick Astley, and The Vamps.

Besides live music, highlights from the beloved broadcaster’s archive will be aired throughout the evening. A Janet and John story, as he used to tell on his Radio 2 breakfast show, will play accompanied by illustrations from Tony Ross.

BBC radio DJs Fearne Cotton and Greg James will host the evening. Cotton, who co-presented with Wogan on a number of shows, said: “It has been an honour working with Sir Terry across the years on Children in Need and it’s a privilege to be hosting Rocks in celebration of his life.

“It’s going to be a very special evening with some great artists performing some of his favourite tracks.”

The evening will raise money for BBC Children in Need, which Sir Terry presented from its inception in 1980 until 2014. He was unable to present the 2015 show due to ill health.

Tickets for the concert can be bought at bbc.co.uk/pudsey, and it will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 and BBC One.
