The ArcelorMittal Orbit (that jazzy slide in the Olympic Park) will be the first attraction in the history of the world to accept chocolate coins as legal tender.

And no, this is not a joke.

Between 11am and 12pm on Wednesday December 20, anyone in possession of a golden chocolate coin can climb and slide down the Queen Elizabeth Park sculpture for absolutely free.

To be in with a chance of nabbing a free ride, all you have to do is turn up with 100 chocolate coins of your own, and voila, views and slide galore.

Once you've successfully completed the rather terrifying 114m high climb – at least it will burn off all those calories – you'll be treated to some rather glorious views of the capital. Expect to see everything from St Paul's to the City, Greenwich and nearby Canary Wharf before you whizz down the globe's fastest and longest slide.

Vomit free, we hope.

The ArcelorMittal Orbit is at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, E20 2ST
