Steins at the ready, as Brick Lane is set to host its first-ever Oktoberfest celebrations this year.

The Brick Lane Tap Room is throwing a Munich-style party in time for Halloween, dubbed the Brick Lane Bier Fest.

Running from Friday October 29 until Sunday 31, the tap room is set to host 1,000 drinkers over the weekend, serving Munich lagers, cocktails and wine, and an array of food. Besides the food and drink, there will be live music and comedy, drag acts and DJs playing throughout.

Hosting the sessions — there will be four across the three days — will be “Weimar vixen cabaret compère”, Eva Von Schnippisch, while music will come from funk, soul and Motown group Freddie and the Freeloaders, who’ve previously played both Glastonbury and the Royal Albert Hall, as well as the British Summer Time festival. Drag act Tiana Biscuit will parade her “Halloqueens” throughout.

Brick Lane Tap Room’s event manager Chris Stemp said of the announcement: “As it’s our first Bier Fest event, we’ve gone all out to prove a point to the naysayers.

“The massive space will get a full makeover and be transformed to the point of unrecognisable. We’ll be mixing that traditional Oktoberfest style with a UK festival feel featuring a hop-themed bar and plenty of photo opps for the ‘gram. If you’re looking for an Oktoberfest that’s new and exciting, look no further.”

The first of the four-hour sessions will be held from 6pm on the Friday night, followed by two on Saturday — from 1-5pm and then from 6-10pm — with the final running on Halloween itself from 2pm.

Tickets start at £15 and are for over-18s only; table sizes are restricted to groups of six.
