A cosy North London setting home to a pub theatre

If you’re looking for something a little different in your north London pub, then you’d do well to check out the King’s Head on Upper Street.

As the name suggests, the venue has been home to one of the first London pub theatres since Shakespearian times after opening in 1970. The theatre is actually moving to a new £400m development next door in 2018, but the pub - which has been here since way back in 1542 - is going nowhere.

The authentic Islington boozer, featuring coal fires and even pre-decimal tills, is a cosy place to enjoy a great selection of Young’s ales, and one of the most welcoming pubs in Islington. It’s well worth checking out for the setting alone, regardless of whether you’re a theatre fan or not.
