The Carpenter’s Arms review: A great independent pub in Hammersmith

A great independent pub in W6 in an unconventional setting
Independent favourite: The Carpenter's Arms in Hammersmith

The Carpenter’s Arms is tucked away down the affluent Black Lion Lane, and represents a great independent pub in W6.

It’s an unconventional setting, and at first glance the unassuming white building looks more like a high-street grocers than a pub. However, the interior is all about understated style, with simple wooden surfaces and comfy leather sofas taking up most of the room. There are also wooden benches outside if you fancy a pint from the small, but well-chosen beer line-up, or a pick from the tastefully-selected wines.

The menu is impressive and affordable too, but if you’re after a table you’d better book ahead, as the dining area can get particularly busy over the weekend.
