The Marksman review: An award-winning pub in Hackney

A gem of a pub, which won the title of Michelin Pub of the Year for 2017
Ben Norum6 December 2017

If you’re looking for an up-market pub in Hackney, then the Marksman is pretty much the perfect option.

It even won the title of Michelin Pub of the Year 2017, and for good reason: since re-launching, chefs Tom Harris and Jon Rotheram (both formerly of the Michelin starred St John restaurant in Clerkenwell) have helped the pub gain a fantastic reputation, which has made it one of the most popular in the area.

As well as having the feel of a cosy, local London pub, the Marksman is also a place to enjoy a great selection of stylish and contemporary British dishes, not to mention a brilliant Sunday roast. Gutsy gravy and crispy roasties are high points, along with some well-aged beef that’s best enjoyed Barbie pink.

The pub is also noted for live music nights, DJ events, a friendly atmosphere and an inviting roof terrace. A Hackney venue definitely worth trying out.
