BarChick: 52° North Bar

10 April 2012

The best of British in this patriotic Soho Venture - think cosy sofas by the fire, English wine and whisky cask beers...

Take: Patriotic mates for an after-work craft beer or English wine.

Vibe: Enter this new Soho venture under a runway of lights and you'll come into a cosy wood-panelled bar. There are sofas downstairs by the fire or take a group of mates and share British bar snacks at shared tables upstairs. A gallant effort is made to source menu ingredients from Britain, from the sparkling wines to the Schiehallion (it's the champagne of lager), so you feel like you're doing a good thing by drinking here.

Best drink(s): Beers aged in whisky casks from Edinburgh's Innis and Gunn Brewery. The wine list is mostly English labels, and the cocktails are kept seasonal. Try the warming Blazer (£11), made with brandy and Grand Marnier.

Cash or credit card: With cocktails from £8 to £12 and food available if you're hungry, we say card it.

Try it: Monday-Saturday, 11am-12am, 21-22 Poland Street, W1.
