Get those corks popping – today is Champagne Day.

Friday October 21 marks a national celebration of everyone’s favourite fizz, and this year the day is being commemorated with a Champagne treasure hunt through London.

It is being put on by The Champagne Bureau — which is in charge of most things Champagne-based in the UK — and involves the twist that you don’t even need to leave the house. Or your office. Or wherever else you may be between midday and 4.30pm today.

That said, you will have to be pretty familiar with London’s dining and drinking scene.

The best bars in London

Every half hour between these times the @Champagne_UK Twitter account will be posting a picture of Champagne being enjoyed somewhere in London, mainly within restaurants and bars.

If you can identify where it is that the Champagne is being enjoyed, then you can win a bottle of the good stuff to enjoy yourself. Perhaps you could brush up by flicking through our guides to London's best bars and the capital's most famous restaurants.

One bottle will be given out per photo tweeted. All the info can be found at champagne.co.uk, or keep an eye on Twitter at the #ChampagneTreasure hashtag.
