A top City chef has teamed up with an urban farm to create a tasting menu inspired by its honey — and help highlight the plight of the bee.

Daniel McGarey, 30, head chef at Plateau in Canary Wharf, worked with Mudchute Farm, on the Isle of Dogs, to create the Honey Menu. It costs £55 per person for six courses, or £75 with wines, and includes The Hive, a dessert of honey parfait, ginger sponge and chocolate mousse made to look like a garden.

Each guest also receives a honey jar from the farm, where bees are looked after by London Beekeepers Association experts, and £1 from each diner goes to Mudchute. Bee numbers in the UK have fallen by up to 30 per cent in recent years. Justin Abbott, chair of the Mudchute Association, said: “We are a small farm that relies on visitors for support. It is a big deal for us.”

The menu is available until the end of next month.
