Cinnamon Kitchen: Vivek Singh is vamping up your vindaloo

The Cinnamon Club’s renowned chef Vivek Singh serves up Indian fine dining in the City

Indian fine dining has enjoyed something of an Indian Summer in recent years.

The Cinnamon Club’s 2015 revamp has played a starring role in this season of spice appreciation, but if the Westminster staple is all a bit too fine for you (sat in a former library doesn’t exactly relax the senses), its younger sibling Cinnamon Kitchen offers the Club’s celebrated food with less of the ceremony.

The food at the City-based sibling comes courtesy of The Cinnamon Club’s renowned chef Vivek Singh, who is widely credited with revolutionising British perceptions of Indian cuisine.

Familiar favourites appear on the menu, and many will leap at the mention of a biryani or a vindaloo.

Yet these, of course come Singh-style – a vindaloo of pork cheek comes Goan style with a masala mash and biryani’s come either Lucknow style with chicken of Hyderabadi style with lamb, both with a 24 month aged rice.

For the full Singh, the seven course tasting menu offers an array of exciting dishes for £70 per person, with a wine pairing flight for an extra £45, but for jaw-dropping value, it’s worth getting there either late or early.

For half an hour after 6pm and any time after 9pm, you can get a set menu of three courses a glass of Prosecco for just £28, with a selection including a Kasundi mustard marinated river trout with roasted tomato chutney to start and either the aforementioned vindaloo or a Kadhai style stir fry chicken leg with dried fenugreek leaf to continue.
