Fay Maschler's week in food, from BaoziInn to Noble Rot

Fabulous: Scallops at Bloomsbury restaurant Noble Rot
Fay Maschler20 November 2019

Following the launch of Caroline Moorehead’s masterly A House in the Mountains, the final volume of her Resistance Quartet, a truffle, honey and bacon cheeseburger from Le Bun pop-up at Fitzrovia’s Smugglers Tavern.

Christmas is currently felicitously distilled at Skate at Somerset House with a majestic 40ft tree and food from Fortnum’s Lodge. I whoosh away with wild mushroom vol-au-vent.

Prawn-filled Chengdu jiaozi (dumplings) frolicking in soy sauce, red oil, spring onions, minced garlic and sesame seeds at BaoziInn London Bridge. Delish.

A mercy run of tom yum mixed seafood noodle soup from Thai Metro to my ailing friend Caroline. It proves a potent tonic.

Scallops topped with fresh black truffles and homemade tagliatelle with shavings of white; fabulous lunch with other rotters at Noble Rot.
