Our restaurant critic feasts on a dim sum lunch and enjoys a deferred "Christmas" complete with roast turkey

1. At Min Jiang — 10th floor Royal Garden Hotel — stopped gazing at the view to focus on neatly pleated xiao long bao with juicy meat filling, part of a terrific dim sum lunch.

2. Einstein’s hypothesis that “The moon does not exist if nobody is looking at it” came to mind at Canvas by Michael Riemenschneider where I wondered, can it be a signature dish — lamb, gem, oats, hay — if one hasn’t heard of the chef?

3. At the lively revamped Giaconda in Denmark Street, Paul Merrony showed potato love with sizzling chips (pictured) made from new crop Agria.

4. Interval smoked salmon sandwiches to still our beating hearts at the Royal Opera House during the final dress rehearsal of Giselle.

5. Roast turkey at home for a deferred “Christmas” for son Ben, his wife Jane, and their children Jacob, Maya and Rafferty.
