Get free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream at a giant London ball pit next week

Shameless promotion: Ben & Jerry's are promoting their new flavour with their pop-up
David Ellis @dvh_ellis26 February 2018

It might not be the weather for it, but American ice cream giant Ben & Jerry’s is celebrating its 40th birthday with a birthday cake-inspired ball pit in Old Spitalfields Market.

The free pop-up will be handing out free scoops of Ben & Jerry’s but will only be open for one day only, on Saturday March 10, from 11am until late afternoon.

The 45,000 multi-coloured ball pit, which can only handle 12 people a time, will also be festooned with giant candles.

Still, the reason is to go is obviously to take advantage of the shameless (but evidently effective) quest for publicity. The team will be handing out samples of the new birthday cake flavour, which is a gooey, Fairtrade mix of strawberry and marshmallow. It’s a pure PR stunt, plain and simple, but hey – we’re not ones to turn down free ice cream. Or a ball pit, for that matter.
