A savvy rethink of the traditional fish and chip shop, Neil Gill’s eponymous fry bar puts a lighter spin on the British staple, using a fine tempura batter on an exquisite menu of classics from Gill's native Sunderland. The Japanese inspiration extends to far more than batter alone and beyond fried fish, scraps and sausages, you can also expect a range of delicate raw fish dishes, chips accompanied by rich katsu sauce and elegant cocktails and highballs. And be sure to leave room for the exquisite doughnuts and deep-fried Celebrations.
