Restaurant nerds rejoice – the next few weeks mark some of the biggest in London's foodie calendar.

Not only is it awards season for London’s dining scene – Michelin is set to dole out its coveted stars next week – but it's also time for the London Restaurant Festival.

Returning for its 11th year, the festival will see restaurants from all across the capital shake up their usual service, hosting dozens of special events that range from cuisine-focused tours to one-off tasting experiences.

From the hundreds of special menus to the big name chefs involved, this is everything you need to know.

What is the London Restaurant Festival?

For the last 11 years, the London Restaurant Festival has hosted an annual, month-long programme celebrating the capital’s world-class food scene. Activities range from foodie tours to tasting menus, collaboration dinners, masterclasses and film nights. This year, more than 70 events will take place across more than 250 venues, and high profile names involved include Monica Galetti, Mark Hix, Richard Corrigan, Anne-Sophie Pic and Andrew Wong.

Where and when is it?

With so much on, there’s no hope in squeezing it in over a weekend – it needs a whole month. The festival runs from October 1-31, at restaurants all across the capital.

Tickets for various events can be purchased online at the official website. To book one of the Festival Menus (more on those later), head to opentable.co.uk.
