While summer is on hold, a warm, spicy bun will take the edge off. Channel Nordic countries and make fika (a coffee break) part of your day. London does a good line in Scandi baked goods but get up early because they taste best when they’re still hot and fresh out of the oven.

These buns may look enormous but once you start eating you want more, and it’s well worth working your way through — the middle is the best bit.
