Two Made In Chelsea stars hope to take advantage of London’s booming vegan scene with the launch of their own restaurant.

Sisters Lucy and Tiffany Watson have applied to Hammersmith and Fulham council for a licence to open Tell Your Friends in New King’s Road, close to Parsons Green Tube station.

They plan to serve dishes such as vegan “fish and chips” (made of “breaded aubergine” and a “cashew tartare sauce”), non-meat “steak” with “king oyster mushrooms”, and a “pulled pork” burger (made with “BBQ pulled jackfruit”). Drinks will include rose petal martinis and plastic straws would be banned.

The restaurant — which also plans to host yoga classes and cookery demonstrations — is the latest venture from City Pub Group, which has a portfolio of 34 pubs and restaurants. The Watson sisters’ father Clive is executive chairman of the company.

But the proposals have raised concerns in an area known as “Sloane Ranger Central”. Some residents fear that the venue’s opening hours will lead to “excessive noise” and litter problems in the neighbourhood, where homes fetch up to £3 million.

Forty-one objections have been submitted to the council. One claims that customers would create “an element of potential danger” when they emerge from the restaurant, which would have a midnight alcohol licence. Objectors say there is no need for a restaurant to stay open beyond 11pm, although the Strada Italian restaurant previously at the site was allowed to do so.

Dan O’Meara, whose flat is above the premises, told the Standard: “It has generally been a quiet block, which was the kind of vibe we wanted. Whilst I like going to places like that, I don’t want to be living above one.”

But the sisters say they will be filling a gap in the dining market, where vegan restaurants are still “underrepresented”. They stressed that it will be a restaurant rather than a pub, and they hope to attract “lots of non-vegans”.

The application is due be decided by the council tonight.
