You can pay for your coffee with a poem on World Poetry Day

Write it down, drink it in: this is the fifth Pay With A Poem event

If you love a limerick or go all a-quiver for a quatrain, then you can make a pretty penny from your penchant this World Poetry Day.

Viennese coffee roasters Juilus Meinl are encouraging coffee consumers to get creative this on March 21, by allowing them to pay for their beverage with a poem.

The offer will be available at 17 coffee shops across London, including all Balans Soho Society locations, the two Belle Epoque patisseries and Shoreditch's Pitfield Cafe.

Poetry pros and coffee keenos who write a poem at any of the selected cafes will be able to redeem it for a free coffee or tea on their visit.

This is the fifth annual edition of “Pay With A Poem”, which will this year see Julius Meinl team up with singer songwriter JP Cooper to create a song celebrating poets from around the world.

So stand up for the stanza this World Poetry Day, and your morning coffee could make you feel even better than usual.
