Plateau, review: There's room for both work and play

Plateau matches high hopes for both food and views

Canary Wharf isn’t all business. At Plateau, there’s room for both work and play.

Situated on the perimeter of one the chrome jungle’s green oases, this Canada Place restaurant has its sights set high.

Four floors up, the elevated restaurant looks over to its well-known neighbour, One Canada Square – for non-Wharfites, that’s the one with the pyramid roof – and boasts al fresco dining and drinking areas that are perfectly placed for both working lunches and the evening time unwind.

Head chef Jeremy Trehout serves up contemporary French fare, with flavours as sleek and poised as the chic surroundings. Rotating tasting menus focusing on favoured ingredients are a luxurious but not outrageously priced treat. Currently on offer is Plateau’s 6 course truffle tasting menu for £75, featuring a beef fillet with cavolo nero, madeira sauce and black truffle.

On the other end of the price spectrum, Plateau offer fabulous value tasting menus both for lunch in the main restaurant and all day in the bar and grill. Seafood is a treat here, so pick up the main of pan fried sea bream at the Grill, served with ratatouille and a delicious lobster bisque, making the simple supreme. Add another two courses and it comes to just £25.
