The Black Penny: Prosecco for a penny at new Covent Garden brunch

This is a partcularly wise way to spend a penny
Just add Prosecco: Brunch at The Black Penny

Forget Champagne socialism, this is Prosecco for the people. Or something like that.

In a fun gimmick based around its name, Covent Garden café and coffee shop The Black Penny will be serving 1p glasses of fizz to accompany its new weekend brunches.

You can’t just raid your piggy bank and prop up the bar all day, though – and that’s probably a good thing.

The frugal fizz is only available to those dining, with customers entitled to one glass per either one large plate or two small plates of food ordered.

Dishes available include crispy confit duck and sweet potato hash with a poached egg; smoked salmon with green eggs and toasted sourdough; and French toast with spiced apple compote, candied walnuts and maple, and range in price from £4-£6.50 for small plates and £8.50-£10.50 for large plates.

A glass of Prosecco usually costs £7.

The offer starts this Saturday (August 29) and runs every Saturday and Sunday from 9am-3pm.
