Isaac McHale's characterful blue-tiled restaurant in Shoreditch Town Hall took up the mantle of Britain's top-ranked restaurant on this year's World's 50 Best Restaurants list and the Scottish chef's exquisite tasting menus are perfectly formed without feeling too fussy.

Having made his name at the Ledbury and as part of the Young Turks collective, McHale's brought his Michelin-decorated haute cuisine to the area with simple, direct dishes that channel the best of British cuisine (with Scottish and Far Eastern twists), while high-grade bar snacks and cocktails make lingering at the bar an enticing option.
