The Narrow: Not your standard boozer

The highlight of Gordon Ramsay's gastropub is its location

A beautiful location is likely the selling point of the Narrow, which probably says quite a lot. Reviews have long been mixed about this Gordon Ramsay outpost – and bafflingly, I’m always hearing something is wrong with this place’s loos, whether it’s them being unclean or without soap or something else entirely. Possibly expectations are too high, given the connection with Ramsay, and everyone expects more.

Though in need of a little scrub up, The Narrow is still a gastropub and not your standard boozer. With a view out over the river, it’s somewhere to tuck into something classic: cumberland sausages and mash, say, or haddock and chips. Dishes seem pricey for what they are, but the wine list is reasonable enough. Just layer up: parts of this place get nippy in the winter.
