Best ways to get around London during the tube strike

Apart from the tube, all other modes of public transport will be running normally - but expect them to be busier than usual.

With the planned tube strike affecting travel across London over the next 24 hours, why not try a Santander Cycle? To help customers find either a bike or a space during peak times, several docking stations will be manned between 7am and 11am, and 4pm to 8pm. These hub stations are located at:

• Butler Place, Victoria

• Soho Square

• Houghton Street, The Strand

• Finsbury Square, Liverpool Street

• Waterloo Place , St James

• Stonecutter Street

• Waterloo

• Belgrove Street

The free Santander Cycle app will be invaluable to find out which docking stations have bikes or spaces; it is the quickest way to find and hire a bike. Download the app (Google Play or Apple App store) and register your details then select 'hire now' at your chosen docking station to skip past the terminal and get a bike release code sent straight to your smartphone. If you don’t have a smartphone you can still hire a bike at the docking station with your bankcard.

London Overground, DLR, TfL Rail and trams will be operating a normal service, and extra bus and river services are being laid on to help commuters get around.

In addition, volunteers and travel ambassadors will distribute maps at key transport hubs in central London to help people find alternative routes to their destinations.
