Jackie Chan fans may want to think twice before welcoming the Rush Hour actor into their homes.

The martial arts star, who received an honorary Oscar at the 8th Annual Governors Awards in LA last weekend, approached the owners of Guinevere, a magnificent 16th-century farmhouse conversion in Shamley Green, Surrey, to use it as a film location.

The excited owners were less enthusiastic when they realised the house would be “blown up” as part of the plot.

Their renovation includes a master suite with floor-to-ceiling windows and an en suite with a walk-through rain shower, plus a Philippe Starck “spoon” bath. The pool house and gym, under a barn-like ceiling, is an architectural feat in itself.

Luckily, the house survived the making of Chan’s movie and it is now available to rent through Unique Home Stays at £3,500 for a two-night weekend stay.

Nearby Guildford station is just over half an hour from Waterloo.
