David Moyes will give his fringe players the chance to impress in the League Cup second round against Charlton after a poor start to the Premier League season.

The Hammers began their league campaign with defeat to Newcastle at the London Stadium on Saturday, and may rely on progress in the Carabao Cup to keep spirits high given their hellish run of fixtures in the top flight.

The Hammers host Charlton in a London derby on Tuesday, and Moyes has plenty of players who will want to prove a point if given the chance.

Youngsters Ben Johnson and Josh Cullen - the latter having spent the last two seasons on loan with Charlton - will want to show they are worthy of first-team opportunities this season.

Darren Randolph will start in goal against the team with whom he started his career. Meanwhile, with no clubs interested in taking them off West Ham's hands at this stage, Manuel Lanzini and Felipe Anderson will hope to have the chance to find some form against the League One side.

Predicted West Ham XI to face Charlton (4-4-1-1): Randolph; Johnson, Diop, Balbuena, Masuaku; Yarmolenko, Wilshere, Cullen, Anderson; Lanzini; Haller
