Fashion and homeware have enjoyed a long love affair and now, another clothing retailer is jumping on the interiors bandwagon.

Luxury online boutique Matchesfashion.com is expanding its range with a chic curated collection of the best established and emerging brands across soft furnishings, decorative accessories and home fragrances.

Monthly drops of new homeware will include collaborations with fashion designers (Calvin Klein’s Pendleton blankets and Bella Freud candles, anyone?) and hero products from the big name likes of Once Milano and Maison Margiela.

The big move is a result of Matchesfashion.com’s buyers recognising that style today is about much more than what we wear, permeating all aspects of our lives and environments.

Instagram and Pinterest have encouraged us to share things we love when we spot them, making curating our personal tastes easier and more fun than ever before.

Natalie Kingham, fashion and buying director at Matchesfashion.com, noticed that customers enjoy finding and connecting with new designers, learning about the provenance of the clothes they buy and understanding the story behind the brand.

The homeware edit will not be seasonal or trend driven, she says. Instead, it will showcase “beautiful craftsmanship with a longevity that resonates”, with a focus on creativity and artisanal designs.

“These are pieces that the customer can love and keep forever.”

Not just a passing fancy: Matchesfashion.com's homeware edit focuses on longevity

Printed crockery by Gucci will sit alongside maximalist cushions by House of Hackney, elegant glassware by design duo Campbell Rey, colourful vintage crockery from Milan’s La Double J and aprons embroidered by artisans at Kilometre Paris.

Luke Edward Hall, the 28-year-old mixed media star of many a ‘ones to watch’ list, has created a bespoke line especially for the launch.

Sustainably made throws from former Ralph Lauren Home designer Sean McNanney’s Saved collection, inspired by the traditions of Mongolian nomadic culture, will also feature.

Matchesfashion.com started with a single shop in Wimbledon 30 years ago. It has since grown into a global online shopping destination stocking over 450 designers. The new homewares section is live now.
