"Urban oasis" homes give Clapham Old Town a boost

A courtyard scheme at Macaulay Walk has 84 homes with loft apartments, new-build flats, duplexes, houses and office studios.

Clapham Old Town, the original Georgian quarter, was left behind when gentrification turned the wider area into Nappy Valley in the Eighties. Now, however, gastropubs, delis, galleries and fashion boutiques have opened, while twentysomethings like the gyms, the cinema and the Tube links, and the pond, child-friendly cafés and gift shops attract yummy mummies.

Macaulay Walk, pictured, a redeveloped Victorian factory complex in the wider conservation area, justifies the term "urban oasis". This courtyard scheme of 84 homes has loft apartments in converted warehouses, new-build flats, duplexes, houses and office studios for small businesses. From £965,000 for a twobedroom flat.
