Diary of an estate agent: Canary Wharf

It's a busy week for this estate agent as he heads to a boutique canalside development in Hackney Wick and an extremely popular development in Surrey Quays...

Monday
A valuation at an extremely popular development in Surrey Quays is my first appointment of the week.

This super-smart scheme has a wide range of amenities to offer residents, including a fantastic little Italian deli, where I stop for a quick coffee before my appointment.

The apartment is a fabulous two-bedroom garden property and I am sure it will be let very quickly. I am instructed by the client straight away — so it’s a great start to the week.

Now it’s time to head back to the office to catch up on the rest of business and start calling applicants who might be interested in the Surrey Quays apartment.

Tuesday
Our team has been working on a boutique canalside development in Hackney Wick over the past few years and the apartments are now ready to rent. I’m anticipating that this development will be in great demand.

It is in one of London’s most vibrant artistic communities. I spend most of my afternoon there doing viewings on the different units, which are all stunning. I manage to secure two offers, one from a local couple and one from a gentleman returning from Dubai.

Wednesday
Making sure that all of my “move-ins” are up to date takes up my morning at the office. We often get tenants wanting to move into their properties within a couple of days of signing, so we work closely with our administrators to get them in as soon as possible.

I finish with an evening viewing at a favourite development in Wapping, where I show round a couple who work for a world-leading tech company, looking for their first home together.

They are blown away by the apartment and make an offer on the spot, which is promptly accepted.

Thursday
The City of London is my destination today, near Moorgate, where I conduct a short viewing at another very sought-after scheme.

If you’re looking for luxury living in a world-class location, this one ticks all the boxes, especially as it has a private sixth-floor residents club.

The prospective tenant loves it, especially as it means a five-minute commute for him.

Friday
Happy Friday! But the week isn’t over just yet. I have several meetings scheduled with clients during the course of today who are looking to launch their properties on the market.

This afternoon, I’m also blitzing the phone, calling round prospective tenants to get viewings lined up for next week.

I end the week in a good mood, ready to enjoy some of this glorious weather.
