A man who was found beaten and stabbed to death in a south London flat has been named by police.

Michael Lavery, 59 , died after being assaulted inside the property off Reddown Road, Coulsdon, on October 16.

Emergency services rushed to the scene just before 9.30pm where they found Mr Lavery suffering head injuries and stab wounds.

Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after 10pm.

A post-mortem exam gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma and stab wounds.

A man, in his 30s, was arrested near the scene by investigating officers.

The man complained of feeling unwell and was taken to hospital, police said.

He was subsequently taken into custody and then bailed on suspicion of murder.
