Have you felt especially deprived of chicken nuggets during lockdown? Found yourself yearning for a Filet-o-Fish, or pining for a simple cheeseburger?

Fear no more – McDonald's are back. From tomorrow, 15 restaurants will be open, offering delivery via Uber Eats.

The fast food giants have also announced plans to reopen 30 more drive-thru restaurants in the UK next week, though UK and Ireland CEO Paul Pomroy asked for customers to be patient: "Our service will not be as quick as you might be used to, as we adjust to smaller teams and social distancing in our kitchens.”

Whether ordering for delivery or dining using drive-thru, only a limited menu will be available. It still includes the brand's big ticket items, but there are a few things missing.

What's on the new limited menu?

The limited menu includes classic McDonald's favourites such as the Big Mac, the McChicken Sandwich, the Filet-o-Fish, and Chicken McNuggets.

A selection of vegetarian options will also be available, including the Vegetable Deluxe and Veggie Dippers.

The main courses available are:

  • Big Mac
  • Quarter Pounder with cheese
  • McChicken sandwich
  • Vegetable deluxe
  • Hamburger
  • Cheeseburger and double cheeseburger
  • Chicken McNuggers (as well as a 20-piece share box)
  • Filet-o-Fish
  • McDonald's fries
  • Mozzarella dippers
  • Veggie dippers

If you fancy something sweet to finish, you can also get your hands on a McFlurry topped with either Oreo, Smarties, or Maltesers.

Drinks are on offer too – these include Coca-Cola, Sprite, orange juice, water and a range of coffees. Find the full food and drink menu here.

When will it be available?

Fifteen restaurants in the South East of England will be reopening from 11am tomorrow.

These 15 restaurants will be part of a pilot scheme looking at how McDonald's might safely reopen their restaurants on a wider scale.

Food will be available for delivery only, and there will be a £25 order cap as branches adjust to smaller kitchen teams.

Paul Pomroy, the CEO of McDonald's UK and Ireland, thanked his staff and customers for their patience in the coming weeks: "I ask that you continue to be supportive of and patient with our restaurant teams as we slowly and safely return. We are asking all of our employees to adapt to how our restaurants now work, and will only reopen at a pace that enables them to work safely.

"In line with government guidance, next week we will begin the next phase of reopening a further 30 pilot restaurants in the UK and Ireland, offering service through the Drive-Thru lane from Wednesday 20th May. Moving in step with government guidelines, we plan to reopen all our Drive-Thrus by early June. We will keep the restaurant locator on our website updated as our Drive Thrus reopen over the coming weeks."

Which UK McDonald's stores are reopening?

For now, though, the 15 restaurants reopening will include several London branches, three in Luton, and two in both Gillingham and Chelmsford.
