Abbey Road seeks anthem

12 April 2012

Abbey Road studios is running a competition to find an "anthem" to mark its 80th birthday.

Open to all, the winner will have his or her music recorded there by the London Symphony Orchestra, directed by composer and conductor Eric Whitacre, and leading choristers. All music genres are encouraged, from a classical piece to a simple pop song.

Whitacre, 41, who will be on the jury, said: "It's a chance to find this creative spark that's hidden out there. An anthem exalts the human spirit. It's got to come from the heart and be inspired."
