Airport gunman jailed

13 April 2012

An estate agent who accidentally walked into an airport with a ball bearing gun in his bag was jailed for four months today.

David Burrows, 44, a father-of-two from North Walsham, Norfolk, packed his bag for a flight to Spain not realising that the gun was inside.

The pistol was spotted when Burrows passed through security at Stansted Airport, Essex, in January.

Burrows was today given a four-month sentence at Chelmsford Crown Court and told he would serve one month before becoming eligible for early release.

The court heard that the gun was loaded with steel ball bearings.

Burrows admitted possessing a ball bearing gun in an aerodrome in contravention of the 1982 Aviation Security Act.
