Archer makes first home visit

12 April 2012

Disgraced former Tory MP Lord Archer has been released from prison for his first home visit.

Archer, 62, was picked up by son James from North Sea Camp open prison near Boston, in Lincolnshire, and driven to the £1.5 million family home in Grantchester,

Cambridgeshire. The multi-millionaire novelist spent yesterday with his wife Mary, 57, and sons William, 29, and James, 28, before returning to the prison at 5.30pm.

It has emerged that the peer has agreed to pay more than £3million to the Daily Star and the News of the World to settle civil actions arising from his notorious 1987 libel case.
