Ayckbourn trilogy to conquer the US

ALAN Ayckbourn's comic trilogy The Norman Conquests is to transfer to Broadway directly following its critically acclaimed run in London.

The production, the latest success for the Old Vic, will play for 16 weeks in New York.

Directed by Matthew Warchus, it is the first Broadway revival of Ayckbourn's masterpiece since the Seventies and will feature the original cast from the Old Vic run.

The trilogy - set in a dining room, a living room and a garden - takes place simultaneously, and follows the romantic misadventures of an assistant librarian called Norman, and five others during a long weekend.

It will open on 23 April at Circle in the Square, with previews beginning on 7 April.
