B&Q staff bonanza hits £34m record

13 April 2012

EMPLOYEES at B&Q are set to share a £34m bonus pot after profits rose at the DIY chain. The bonus, equivalent to an average payout of 10% of salary, is up from £28m last year.

Bottom-line profits at B&Q parent Kingfisher fell 13% last year, but underlying profits rose 15%, promoting the record payment.

In-store experts such as plumbers will pocket around £1,300 and store managers about £3,400.

Kingfisher is known for its generosity to staff. Its finance director Helen Weir hit the headlines when she received nearly £500,000 to move just 11 miles closer to head office.
