Bank of Japan meets on policy

THE Bank of Japan today begins a two-day policy meeting against the backdrop of an improving economy. The country's central bank is expected to keep monetary policy settings unchanged despite the fall by the benchmark Nikkei 225 in recent days. Most economists attribute that decline to jitters over Iraq and terrorism, and not to economic fundamentals.
