Batch of ecstasy in London 'may be deadly'

Tony Bonnici12 April 2012

Police today issued an alert over a potentially deadly batch of ecstasy tablets believed to be in circulation in London.

It comes after two men fell seriously ill in Fabric nightclub in Clerkenwell at the weekend. A 23-year-old is still critically ill.

An 18-year-old who also needed emergency treatment is now said to be stable.

Police warned clubbers that the batch remains unaccounted for. Detective Superintendent Adrian Usher said: "I strongly advise people to be cautious and if they have purchased any ecstasy recently to destroy it."

Anyone with information should contact Islington CID on 020 7421 0196 or call police on the non-emergency number 101.

The club said it was stepping up security measures.
