Juice with a boost: Cranberry is good for the heart

Drinking three glasses of cranberry juice a day could reduce the risk of heart disease by 40 per cent.

The drink increases levels of a cholesterol which protects the heart by ten per cent, a US study found. At the same time, the level of antioxidants - which cut the risk of heart disease and cancer - in the body more than doubled.

Researcher Prof Joe Vinson said: 'Cranberry juice has more health benefits than previously believed.'
