'Black women less attractive' storm at LSE

12 April 2012

A London university is under pressure to sack an academic who claimed black women are less attractive than those of other races.

Satoshi Kanazawa, an evolutionary psychologist at the London School of Economics and a Reader in its department of management, conducted a study where participants were asked to rate the attractiveness of men and women of various races.

The results, which found African women to be perceived as the least desirable, were published in an article called Why Are Black Women Less Physically Attractive Than Other Women? on the US website Psychology Today.

London students condemned the academic today and called for him to be fired. University of London Union senate members passed an emergency motion this afternoon demanding his dismissal.

An LSE spokesman said: "This academic's views are his own and do not represent the LSE."
