Body of murdered tourist stuck in morgue

12 April 2012

The family of a tourist murdered in London are still trying to raise the funds to fly his body home to the Caribbean more than a month after his death.

Kelvin Francis, 26, was stabbed to death in Walthamstow on 7 March. His body has been lying in a morgue because his family cannot afford the £2,000 fees to repatriate his body to Grenada.

His father, Elvin, 59, said: "Just thinking of him lying in a morgue makes things even more painful for us. But at the moment we can't see how we'll be able to afford the fees when the authorities do say it's OK to release the body. And that's even before funding the costs to pay for the funeral and burial."

A 23-year-old man has been charged with Mr Francis' murder.
