Bookie takes biggest ever euro bet

A SPANISH businessman has staked thousands in the single European currency in the largest ever British bet made in euros.

The high-flying tycoon bet 62,000 euros (£40,000) on Spain to win the World Cup and stands to make £320,000 if they succeed.

William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe said: 'This is easily the biggest bet yet struck since euros were introduced.'
