Boy, 14, the second teenager accused of murdering sex case man

12 April 2012

A second 14-year-old will appear in court today charged with murdering a 45-year-old man accused of sexual offences.

Robert Daley was found stabbed to death at an address in Ferndale Road, Stockwell, south London, on Friday evening.

A 14-year-old boy, who was arrested on Tuesday night, will appear at Sutton Youth Court accused of his murder, the Metropolitan Police said. A 14-year-old girl appeared in the same court on Tuesday also charged with the killing.

Scotland Yard said a 16-year-old girl also arrested on Tuesday in connection with the investigation was bailed to return in May.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed Mr Daley had been investigated over allegations of sexual offences but the case was dropped.

A spokeswoman said: "We considered the file earlier this month but there was insufficient evidence to charge him."

Police said the victim died from stab wounds to the chest.

The 14-year-old girl was remanded in secure accommodation, with the case adjourned to May 25.

The court heard that a bail application was expected to be made at the Old Bailey shortly.

An 18-year-old man was arrested earlier in connection with Mr Daley's death and was bailed to return in May.
