British Airways cabin crew to meet over strike dates

12 April 2012

British Airways cabin crew will hold a mass meeting on Thursday during which dates for strike action could be announced.

The results of a ballot for strikes among 12,000 staff was being announced this evening in their dispute over a pay freeze, job cuts and working conditions.

By law the union must give seven days' notice of any industrial action meaning the first walkouts could take place from next Thursday. Unite has ruled out strikes over the Easter holidays.

BA is training 500 new staff to take the place of cabin crew in the event of any walkouts and plans to operate as many flights as possible.
