Christmas Island asylum boat death toll 'may rise'

The death toll from the boat crash off Christmas Island is likely to rise, Australia's prime minister said today.

At least 28 asylum seekers, from Iran and Iraq, died when a storm sent them on to rocks.

Julia Gillard said: "We do not know with any certainty how many people there were on the boat, so we've got to prepare ourselves for the possibility that more bodies will be found."
