City trader given £150,000 bonus wins fight for £1.4m

12 April 2012

A City trader 'unhappy' with a bonus of £150,000 today won his Appeal Court fight for a £1.4 million payout.

Derivatives trader Saleem Khatri, 41, worked for the London branch of Dutch bank Cooperative Centrale Raiffeisen-Boerenleenbank to January last year when he was made redundant. He regularly received "large sums" in bonuses but the £150,000 the bank paid in 2007 was "too low compared with some of his colleagues".

Mr Khatri, of Paddington, made £12 million profit by the end of 2008 and expected a bonus of just over £1.3 million. The court allowed his appeal and ordered the bank to pay him the £1.3 million plus interest.
