Conditional approval for News Corp

THE US Federal Communications Commission is believed to have recommended conditional approval of News Corp's bid for control of satellite television group DirecTV.

News, owner of the Fox network, plans to pay about $6.6bn (£3.8bn) for a 34% controlling stake in DirecTV's parent, Hughes Electronics.
