DMGT in tune with the Aussies

13 April 2012

DAILY Mail and General Trust, owner of the Daily Mail and This Is Money, beat a consortium led by Sir Richard Branson to pay £43m for a new Sydney FM radio licence.

The group's first station in the city, Nova 969, targets the youth market and is Sydney's most popular. The new station, to launch later this year, will be aimed at older listeners.

DMGT already owns 64 Australian stations across five states and will take part in new licence auctions in Brisbane and Melbourne in the next few months.

'We are delighted to have won this station at a very reasonable price,' said DMGT finance director Peter Williams.
